Job Description:
The Associate Director of Faculty Development and the Center for Excellence in Teaching champions the assessment of student learning. Reporting to the Director of Faculty Development and part of the Academic Affairs Faculty and Academic Program Support unit, the Associate Director collaboratively designs, directs and supports student learning assessment and informs faculty development initiatives. As FIT's main advocate for student learning assessment, the Associate Director leads assessment for the SUNY General Education categories, the SUNY core competencies, and degree program learning outcomes.
The Associate Director works closely with the Faculty Senate Academic Assessment Committee on student learning assessment and uses data and findings to improve teaching and learning at both the program and course level. When needed, the Associate Director collaborates and consults with Institutional Research and Effectiveness, the Office of Online Learning, Office for Curriculum, the FIT Library, Schools and Academic Departments to ensure successful data collection and analysis. The Associate Director will create programming for faculty development, guide faculty in assessment practices, support faculty with curriculum development and design, and use assessment data to support stronger teaching practices, assignment design, rubrics, and the development of other curricular materials. As a non-classroom faculty member, achievement in primary responsibilities, scholarly engagement, and service to the department, unit, and College are required for tenure and promotion.

Salary
Salary: $75,917.54 - $111,883.11 per year; commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) dictates the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. Hiring Salary: $75,917.54 per year with step increments per Salary Schedule 83, after one year of service and annually thereafter.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
- Plan, organize, and coordinate general education categories and competencies and program learning outcomes assessment activities.
- Develop policies and procedures for the assessment activities overseen by the Office of Faculty Development.
- Support continuous student learning assessment across the curriculum through consultation, mentoring, and hands-on faculty training.
- Facilitate faculty development workshops and events focused on student learning and effective teaching practices.
- Assist in the daily operations of the Office of Faculty Development, which include developing and maintaining resources and providing support for departmental initiatives and programs.
- Maintain scholarly engagement in fields related to student learning assessment, pedagogy, and/or faculty development.
- Work with academic deans and chairs on the development, organization, analysis and reporting of student learning and program outcomes in support of FIT's strategic plan.
- Work with programs on evaluating and developing evidence of student learning in order to use that evidence to inform curriculum and teaching.
- Interpret assessment findings and prepare an annual assessment report to summarize such findings, with particular emphasis on the quality of the assessment efforts and findings that influence pedagogical decision-making and curriculum development.
- Collaborate on assessment activities as needed for MSCHE, NASAD, ACBSP, and other accreditation or compliance purposes.
- Conduct periodic reviews of the assessment process every few years to determine its effectiveness and identify additional resources and procedures needed to support learning assessment efforts.
- Record, store, manage, and disseminate confidential and sensitive assessment data as appropriate.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree required.
- Training and/or experience equivalent to five years of higher education experience that includes learning assessment and leadership. Higher education teaching experience is a plus.
- Expertise in assessment, data analysis and student learning outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with diverse members of the university community including students, faculty, staff, administrators, and accreditors.
- Demonstrated ability for effective organizational skills and ability to connect to the institutional strategy while displaying attention to detail.
- Ability to synthesize and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and prepare and present reports effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD or EdD preferred.
