Peter Do is stepping down from his position as creative director of Helmut Lang, the brand announced Thursday.

Do joined Helmut Lang in March 2023. His goal was to revive the storied house, which was founded by the designer Helmut Lang in 1986 but has struggled to retain its cultural cachet since Lang left the business in 2005. His debut collection for the brand, which was presented in September 2023, was highly anticipated but met with mixed reviews.

”I want to express my gratitude to my Helmut Lang team who have been integral in supporting my vision,” Do said in a statement, calling his appointment an “opportunity of a lifetime.”

During his tenure at Helmut Lang, Do continued to design for his namesake label, which he founded in 2018.
